Poornagiri Mela

On the Annapurna range, the temple of Shri Purnagiri organises the Purnagiri Mela in Uttarakhand on Navratri. These ranges offer exceptional scenic beauty. The temple is situated at a distance of 20 kilometer from Tanakpur, on the right bank of the river Kali in the district of Champawat.

Tunyas is 17 kilometer away and from there, a 3-kilometer trek leads to Purnagiri Temple, the site of Purnagiri Mela at Uttarakhand. One can observe a huge rush due to this fair in the market of Tanakpur.

Throughout the year, a number of fairs take place here during the Navaratris of Paush and Chaitra, when devotees come here in a large number from surrounding areas to have a darshan and worship the Goddess Purnagiri. Every year, a fair is organized on Vishuwat Sankranti, which continues for about forty days. Next to the Holi festival, the longest fair of Kumaon. Purnagiri Mela of Uttarakhand attracts a large number of pilgrims. An innumerable number of people visit the shrine on these days. Purnagiri Devi temple is one of the 108 Siddha Peeths, which adds to the popularity of the fair.
