Harsil

The town of Harsil is located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The town of Harsil has a climate that is similar to that of Gangotri’s. The region experiences a temperate climate, and the main seasons here are those of summer, winter. Summers in Harsil are very moderate and winters in Harsil are cold. The best time to visit Harsil will be the months between April and June and the months between September and November.

Summers in Harsil are very moderate, and temperatures hardly rise beyond a particular level. The maximum temperature that this region experiences will range around fifteen degrees during the summer months (15°C) and the minimum temperature will range around ten degrees (10°C). This is a good time to visit the place. You should carry along adequate winter clothing during this time in order to keep yourself warm through the nights. April, May, June and July are the summer months.

Winters in Harsil extend through the months of October, November, December and January. February has a very pleasant climate. These months will experience a maximum temperature of around ten degrees (10°C) during the winter months, and the minimum temperature during these months will range around zero degrees (0°C). This is not a very good time to visit the place, due to the extreme weather and constant snowfall.

Harsil is an unspoiled and hidden jewel of Uttarakhand state offering ample scope for people seeking peace and serenity in the lap of Himalayas. It is situated on the banks of Bhagirathi River at an elevation of 2,620mts above sea level. Harsil has become popular in recent years with travel enthusiasts and nature lovers.

Dharali:

Dharali is an exquisite hamlet situated at a distance of 3kms from Harsil. Dharali can be easily approached through motorable roads.

Sattal:

It can be reached by a 3km easy trek from Dharali. Sat tal is a mysterious combination of seven natural lakes.Vishwanath Temple:

The main temple of Guptkashi is dedicated to Lord Shiva as Vishwanath - "Lord of the Universe". It is built by regional stones and is situated in an enclosed courtyard. The small temple to its left is Ardhanarishvara.

Mukhwas Village:

Mukhwas village is situated only 1km from Harsil. Mukhwas is the home of Goddess Gangotri during winters because Gangotri region is prone to heavy snowfall during winters. Devotees worship at Mukhwa village during winters when the doors of the Gangotri temple remains closed.
