River Rafting
Tanakpur and its nearby places along the banks of the Kali and Sharda rivers offer one of the lesser-known yet thrilling rafting experiences in Uttarakhand. The river, which in parts is also known as Kali-Sharda, has pristine wide beaches along it and offers high water volume with mostly up to class III kind of rapids. The surrounding vistas are rich in flora and fauna, and one can easily sight a wide variety of rare birds and animals. Some tour operators also start a longer, four-day rafting trip from Pancheshwar to Tanakpur.
Hiking
Being surrounded by forests, small hills and several temples, Tankapur is ideal for easy hikes and treks. Explore the forests around on foot. Or, you can also trek to Tamli and even to Jhulaghat along the Kali river.
Angling
The Kali and Sharda rivers are apt spots for angling (catch and release) and several camps and guesthouses at Tankapur offer this facility.
